Sign Onto Supervisor Anderson's Letter advocating for sunrise to sunset access to Loveland Reservoir!

Constituents have reached out to me regarding their concerns that unincorporated communities surrounding Loveland Reservoir won't have expanded access for fishing and recreation. I strongly support everyone having increased access to recreation, which includes a request for sunrise to sunset access to Loveland Reservoir throughout the year.

On August 7th, I wrote a letter to the Sweetwater Authority advocating for this access.

Ongoing Lake Access Advocacy

As your County Supervisor, I have been championing your message to protect recreational access to our local reservoirs. In November 2021, I authored a Board Letter to explore the feasibility of providing operational support for the recreational use of reservoirs on a permanent basis. In March 2023, I authored a Board Letter to look for funding sources, including support for using the County budget to cover the costs and ensure the lakes stay open. In October of 2023, the County reported back to the Board with alternative funding opportunities as well as considerations for partnerships and collaborations. Many constituents have expressed the need for a long-term solution to the challenge of City budget cuts affecting reservoir access and I will continue to advocate to my colleagues on the Board to support this effort. In June of this year, I wrote a letter to San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria and the San Diego City Council after the City of San Diego's Public Utilities Department (PUD) had proposed a $59,000 cut from the City Lakes Recreation Program. This cut would have resulted in El Capitan and Hodges closing an additional month as well as Sutherland Reservoir closing an additional day each week. I successfully advocated for $59,000 in the County budget to keep El Capitan, Hodges, and Sutherland Reservoirs open!
