Sign onto Supervisor Anderson's letters of support for SB 14 & SB 268

On March 8, 2023, Supervisor Joel Anderson wrote letters to California State Senator Shannon Grove in support of two bills related to public safety: Senate Bill 14 and Senate Bill 268.

Senate Bill 14
If passed, this would add the crime of human trafficking to the list of crimes defined as a serious felony under California law. By reclassifying human trafficking as a serious crime, human traffickers convicted of this heinous activity would be subject to a "third strike" violation under the State's Three Strikes law (which states that a person's third serious or violent felony charge would result in a sentence of 25 years to life in prison).

Senate Bill 268
If passed, this bi-partisan legislation would include all rape violations as violent felonies under California law. This bill will strengthen State law and enhance victim rights by ensuring all rape victims are treated equally and will be able to seek a more appropriate level of justice against the perpetrators of this horrific crime.
